Dr Ma's clinical psychology approach focuses on providing you with a three-factor experience. It serves an emotional, physical, and psychological enterprise that leads to fundamental positive change. It is an integrated system of cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal therapies.

Emotional Approach
Emotionally, therapy is a relationship that is healing. To be comfortable enough with your feelings, to be honest, and know how you feel is a lifelong process.  The more honest you are with yourself and in the company of others, the more accepting you will be as well. My emotional therapy sessions will teach you how to let your feelings guide rather than scare you.

Psychological Approach
Psychologically, therapy is where you come to understand why you do the things you do. Changing your actions require a change in your beliefs (or at least, be willing to test them out).  This is difficult to accomplish alone; you need to speak with others.  In an accepting environment, you can try out new beliefs and develop new ways of relating to the world. My psychological therapy sessions will teach you to change your values and behaviors to become the person you are meant to be.

Physical Approach
Physically, the journey to wholeness and self-esteem is achieved one small action at a time. Dr Ma will help you understand what is right for you and then choose the right action. Learning that you have the power to decide when, where, and how to act is a formidable perspective and will change your life.  My physical therapy is where you get to integrate these perspectives and become more accountable to your values.

Maybe when you were young, you went to someone for help but was met with coldness, mockery, or humiliation.  You may have resolved never to open up or depend on others and grabbed on to the belief that you could live life alone.  You have to risk reaching out because the rewards can be amazing and it is great not to be alone.  Therapy is a process and just like most worthwhile things; it takes patience, commitment, and faith.  It is a dynamic process and a valuable service that hopefully, you are willing to receive.
