Body Image

December 2, 2015

Practicing affirmations can help you feel good about the body you naturally have.

  1. Appreciate what your body can do like breathing, laughing, and dreaming.

  2. Keep a list of things you like about yourself that are unrelated to the way you look.

  3. Redefine beauty.

  4. Look at yourself as a whole person and not focus on specific body parts.

  5. Surround yourself with people who are positive and supportive.

  6.  Do thought-stopping, which is to redirect your thoughts when it says negative things about your body.

  7. Wear comfortable clothes.

  8. Be critical of images, slogans, and advertisements.  They exist to compel you to buy their products or services.

  9. Do something nice for yourself that lets our body know you appreciate it, like taking a bath or nap.

  10. Reach out to other people who need your help.  Helping others can get you out of an emotional spiral.
