Antidepressants can take more than a few weeks to work.  It's important to have your doctor's guidance when changing your medications.  You may need to take antidepressants for a extended period, but they are not addictive or harmful.

It may take up to three months to get the right dosage.  Never mix medications and check before taking decongestants.  Alcohol can reduce the effectiveness of antidepressants and increase their sedative effects. Some side effects that may occur are headaches that usually go away on their own; nausea, but eating before taking your medication can help;  nervousness and insomnia, which can last a few weeks; anxiousness and sexual problems.  There are some counter-measures to reduce low libido symptoms.  Talk to your doctor for more information.
