Learning Boundaries

October 13, 2015

You, as an adult, have the power to create boundaries.  You have personal rights to say things like:

  • "No.”

  • “I disagree.”

  • “I will not.”

  • “I choose not to.”

  • “Stop that.”

  • “It hurts.”

  • “It’s wrong.”

  • “That’s bad.”

  • “I don’t like it when you touch me there.”

We are supposed to learn the skill of saying no during childhood, but religion, cultural values, and parenting differences may have interfered with that process.   Practice saying no, and affirm yourself that you have the right to say no and any of the above-listed phrases.
