Happiness is not the collection of experiences, accomplishments, or outcomes. You've probably felt that empty feeling after you bought something or come back from a trip. Then you're off seeking the next thing to give you the temporary sense of fulfillment. One thing that can help you feel fulfilled is to set intentions at the start of the day and before each action. The intention has nothing to do with the outcome. It is a decision to be present to whatever arises and give meaning to your own reactions. Try it out one day. Tell yourself, "Today, may I be more thoughtful and loving than I ever have before." Or before a specific action, "With each bite of this meal, may I feel appreciate the people who created it from the ground up."
